Center ideas!

As you can probably tell, the theme for my classroom is going to be "Friendly Forest"! We will have a tree in our classroom, lots of bugs to learn about, owls (of course!), frogs, a pond (water table), lily pads  (carpet squares), a bee hive and many other animals to learn about! My centers will be focused on this theme as well. So far, I've thought about the following centers:

  • Home Center: kitchen things, makeup, dress up, grocery, old junk mail etc.
  • Building Center: legos, big blocks, cars and trucks, wooden animals etc.
  • Reading Center: a tent, bean bag chairs, books on tape, cd player, book baskets etc.
  • Manipulative's: popsicle stick puzzles, floor puzzles, lacing cards, counting blocks, folder games, crayons & paper etc.
  • Art Center: paper, pencils, crayons, paint, markers etc.
  • Letters & Numbers: playdoh, wooden letter blocks, magnetic letters/numbers etc.
  • Sensory: more playdoh, rice station, 5 senses board etc.
  • Pond: water station
Sorry there's no examples of these right now but look for pictures of my classroom in upcoming weeks!

Finally, it's a dream come true!

Whoo-hoo! After 5 long tedious years, I've finally graduated. On June 28, 2012 I was hired to work for Garden City, KS public schools teaching Early Childhood special education! I've only seen my classroom once and have yet to even know what will be provided to me, but I am super excited! My hope with this blog is to give ideas for classroom decor, organization, worksheets/printable's, crafts and more to all of the other preschool teachers that are creative and ready for fun! Good luck to all new teachers and I hope my blog can provide ideas for both new and experienced teachers!! Enjoy!
