Week 5

Hello & Welcome to week 5!

This week is all about our feelings and emotions. We will be do a variety of activities this week that help us understand what emotions are and how they help us in life.
 

Monday: Working on our understanding of clever
  • Name puzzles and size matters - smallest to largest.
  • Played bean bag toss & measured how far they were thrown
  • Make a picture for a puzzle
Tuesday: working on our ability to think
Wednesday: working on our emotions - happy/sad/surprised
  • Finger-painting on the table- encourage happy and sad faces with a photo as a model
  • Predict what box will hold the most cubes & fill the box, then count the cubes
  • Feelings game
  • Put puzzles from Monday together
Thursday: working on things that frighten us
  • Finger-painting monsters
  • Place as many frog counters on a lid until it sinks - count the frogs
  • Make noodle monsters

Week 4

Hello & Welcome to week 4!

This week is all about our senses. We will be do a variety of activities this week that help us understand what each of our senses is and how it helps us in life. 


Monday: working on our sense of sight
  • Use instruments to play "what's that sound?"
  • Play with math manipulatives
  • Use magnifying glasses to look at different foods
  • Talk about words that help us describe what we're seeing

Tuesday: working on our sense of hearing
  • Sort objects into "things that make sound"/"things that don't make sound"
  • Draw to music
  • Explore a xylophone
  • Play musical freeze
  • Sing the senses song

Wednesday: working on our sense of smelling
  • Scratch and sniff painting
  • Make a scent collage
  • Drawing things that we can smell
  • Smell different scents
  • Make a "I love/I don't like" T-chart

Thursday: working on our sense of touch and taste
  • Feely box
  • Soft collage
  • Numbers 1-5 in shaving cream
  • Read I use my senses book
  • Try lemons, salt and sugar

Week 3

Hello & Welcome to Week 3!! 

This week our topic is "body parts". We will be learning about the names of our different body parts, how we use them, and why they are important. 


This week, our centers include a variety of different items, all having to do with our bodies. 


This weeks letter is B and the color is green.

On Monday, students will: 



  • Create a shape body & decorate it to look like a person. 
  • Dig for Mr. Potato head body parts 
  • Practice writing their name
  • Explore their fingerprints
  • Read stories about our bodies 
On Tuesday, students will:
  • Finger paint
  • Play face bingo
  • Decorate face cookies
  • Dance with our bodies
  • Dig for Mr. Potato head body parts
On Wednesday, students will:
  • Read "The Gingerbread Boy"
  • Finger painting with symmetry
  • Listening center for "Body in Rhyme" book
  • Dancing with our bodies
  • Dig for Mr. Potato head body parts
On Thursday, students will:
  • Work on tracing shapes and building shapes
  • Play "I can, you can"
  • Dig for Mr. Potato head body parts
  • Dancing with our bodies
  • Read "hands and fingers"


This week, please work on identifying body parts and continue to work on reinforcing shapes, numbers 1-5, the color blue & green and the letters A & B.
